Pretty in Pink from Wendy's Quilts and More

Here's my latest finish - Pretty in Pink. As I said last week, I had to rescue my Tilda fabrics from a plan gone wrong.  There's little snippets of Tilda in this quilt, but they seem to have been over taken by Tula Pink!

I enjoy watching Tula Pink's videos each week on Instagram (or Facebook) and she often talks about how all of her collections are designed to work together.  I've used fabrics from three of her collections here and they really do all work together.

The Lazy Stripe pink sashing and Dragonfly border are both ...

Pretty! from Wendy's Quilts and More

I've just picked up this quilt from my long arm quilter at Busy Bee Quilt Shop and I love it.

I don't want to post a photo of the whole quilt yet because I'm going to put the binding on this weekend and it will be worth the wait.

Tilda meets Tula

I didn't set out to make a pretty pink quilt, but now that I have I'm really happy with it.

You may remember that a few weeks ago I started puddling around with some pretty Tilda fabrics.  I rushed in to making a ...

Summer in Tekapo bag from Wendy's Quilts and More

Last week I showed you the sights of Tekapo.  This week I'll show you what we did at the retreat.

I taught 14 ladies how to make my Summer in Tekapo tote bag.  We had a great time experimenting with wool felt, Perle 8 threads and ombre fabrics. Everyone's bags are going to look so different because they applied their own artistic flair to the design.

Tula Pink lining

It was a great weekend with good people and very good food.  And of course the scenery was gorgeous with all the snow on the mountains.  I definitely hope ...

Yes to cornerstones from Bizarre Quilter

I love it when a plan comes together.

I always wanted it to be cornerstones, very happy it worked out.

Because of course, sometimes the quilt says something else.

What's in your fridge? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's so nice to have time without a looming deadline! I have loads to do, but with no deadline, I had a great visit with my colleague yesterday. Of course, that put me behind with the day's schedule, and only ONE piece of paperwork disappeared, so this morning will be devoted to paperwork.

However, loads still got accomplished once she left. I'm still working on the cutting table, which is like a revolving door. Something might get placed there, and it's gone within a day or two. This is its current state.

The current state of ...

2022 Christmas Countdown - Holiday Homies Quilt from Wendy's Quilts and More

Day 10 and it's my Tula Pink Holiday Homies quilt.

I made this cute quilt back in 2017 when Tula's Holiday Homies range was first released.

I didn't want to lose any of the motifs so I designed my own pattern which you can find here in my original blog post.

My Holiday Homies quilt is just 37" x 37", but it can cover the box in the hall nicely when it's Christmas.

Tula Pink has re-released Holiday Homes in flannel, but I was fortunate enough to get the original cotton version.

A seamless move from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another long but successful day! An extraordinarily productive and worthwhile meeting, which took way longer than planned, but I'm OK with that. If good comes from it - I'll meet all day. Now I have some work and new samples to make, but I'm super excited! Don't worry -- you'll get to see it all someday!

Something weird is happening in our neighborhood, and it's about deliveries. For whatever reason, the couriers can't seem to find this house. We had that issue with the package a week ago, where the box was supposedly refused, then ...

Not for years, really. from Bizarre Quilter

There's almost no fabric left in my pallette for this little quilt.

I've made all the blocks I can.

Arranged on my design wall, and started to join together with bright white sashing. It's very striking and very pretty.

It's been so long since I machine pieced, I have quilted, appliqued and machine stitched, but not machine pieced so much. Not for years, really.

What's something that you haven't done for a long time that you miss?

A woman on a mission from Bizarre Quilter

I am a woman on a mission.

I haven't wavered, every day I've made more blocks.

Can I say that I've been binge watching/ listening to a TV show while creating? We bought an amazon fire stick so that our old TV can now stream pay to view channels.

I bought a lot of Christmas presents through Amazon prime because the postage is free when you subscribe (I get Christmas gifts shipped straight to the family households), and that gives me free viewing on the Amazon Prime channel.

Ok, so I admit I've been binge watching ...

100 Modern Quilt Blocks from Bizarre Quilter

I've been saving this new project for a special occasion! My birthday!

Today I was gifted time in my studio to play with these goodies that I had already bought for myself.

I bought the book online (it's been out for a few years now, so it wasn't in my local quilt shops), and I chose some Tula Pink and Devonstone fabrics from Quilty Desires.

I'm so excited to play with these. And then I notice, once again, they are pink, with a bit of green. Pink and green.

This is starting to be such a ...

What's your Plan B? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

How often do we laugh and joke about Plan B, and let's face it -- how often do we actually have a Plan B? Well, the story of my life seems to be - find Plan B! DH ordered those three things from Amazon, but I'm very skeptical that they will arrive in time. I'm watching the order, and if I don't see movement by Monday, I'm canceling the order, and I have to find Plan B for those three items. All of them are critical to my trip. Yep -- that's me -- leave it to the ...

Prepping for retreat from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

For me, every day used to be a good day. But since I got home from that trip, I never know, and it drives me crazy! Some days I wake up feeling like the dead even though I've had a good sleep, and I've been known to have a nap before 9 AM. Good grief -- what is happening to me? I think I best make a trip to the doctor to get some bloodwork done to ensure things are OK. And that darn vertigo keeps popping up from time to time.

After I had my early morning nap ...

Floral Bouquet from Wendy's Quilts and More

It's finished!

I'm proud to reveal "Floral Bouquet" made from Kaffe Fassett's "Starry Night" pattern in Quilts in an English Village.

I loved the Starry Night pattern, but I wanted to use some of my lighter floral Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics, so I teamed my fabrics with Tula Pink's pastel solids for this pattern and I love the result.

The Cactus Flower print has some great motifs that are just crying out to feature in large blocks like these.

The Y seams were a little tricky, but I wrote a post back in February showing how ...

The Long Way Home from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

While it is always great to be at a quilt retreat, it's always fun to return home. Again the weather cooperated, and it was one of the best days I've seen in a long time. How could you not feel happy and excited!

I did go for a short walk in the morning and decided I'd better get myself back to the sewing machine to get something done! I managed to get the center of the flannel quilt done.

Part of the flannel quilt done!

I still have MANY squares of flannel left, and I think I ...

» Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a bittersweet day. I had to drop something off, and I wanted to visit the person; however, they had recently been exposed to COVID, so that didn't happen. So I drove to Orillia to one of my favorite quilt stores -- Thimbles and Things. Sue has sold the store and is retiring! While she will be working in the store from time to time, we are not guaranteed to see her smiling face when we walk in the door! ACK!!

Many years ago, the first time I walked in the door, they had little sections for all the ...
